Alright. I’m going to try and make this short as time allows, but for the most part I am introducing an RP. While it is my first attempt in years, it is not my first, so I felt a welcoming type of intro to the story needed. Here goes ^_^

The story will be called“world on judgment” for reasons that you will later see. It’s typical fantasy setting,-steampunk- if you will, and is strictly humans at the moment.

The world itself is set in a penurious condition with cities striving only to survive. All cities are taxed significantly high, and so much effort is put into pleasing those that lead them. Which is where I will start explaining.

The world itself is led by a government of ten. These are what are called the ten Judges. The Judges themselves are a very dark, evil, cynical breed of people. They care not for their people, other than those that dwell in their capital city of Belmont, which basically are the judges biggest supporters. The Judges also have a fairly decent sized army of loyal knights at call. Justiciar, they are called. The justiciar are well trained warriors in battle, but lack any magical skill whatsoever. Only the Judges may call upon such primitive forces. Also is the fact that there will be no present religion in this story, for if anyone is even so much rumored as being ‘religious’ they are put to death by the Judges. There is reason for this that I will not mention right now, so be patient ^_^ Many cities have actually plotted against Belmont and it’s Judges, but all have been sought out and exterminated. The Judges do not tolerate anyone plotting against them, nor will they allow any city to get populated enough in which it might one day overthrow Belmont. Cities thus become broken up, constantly remaining in ‘penurious conditions’ as I mentioned, so that they might not rise in power. Belmont on the otherhand is very rich to look upon. A much ‘advanced’ lot, you could say, for all the money funded from the surrounding cities goes into the constant growing of Belmont.

I think you all get the gist of the surroundings. I apologize for being REALLY terrible at describing, but the writings will be much better, that I promise =P

And mainly, the plot line will be pretty much a small group of people will arise to try and overthrow Belmont and the Judges.... somehow O_o... There will be secrets that will help of course ^_^ For the main part, two sides can be played out, that of the evil, and that of the good. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask and I’ll do what I can to help you out in any way.

Also, in regards to the template, is that a map of this -unnamed world- is actually in progress, and should be up pretty soon. This way, you will have help coming up with some background info, such as birthplace and such.

Name: Alistair
Gender: Male
Profession: Judge of the 2nd Circle
Allegience: His fellow Judges

Abilities: Alistair is skilled heavily in Magic. His specialties are Necromancy, Diabolism, Pyromancy and Divination. Is magically endowed as all Judges are.
Skills: Knows how to wield a Scythe as a weapon. A skilled writer, and familiar with several languages, especially ancient ones.

Equipment/Gear: Heavy Plate-Mail, an enchanted Scythe, and a war mask. Owns many ancient books and scrolls.

Personality: Alistair is cold and uncaring, he desires only knowledge and more mystical power.

Appearence: Tall, and relatively thin for a Judge. He wears Red-Plate Mail and obscures his visages with a heavy black hooded cloak, and a red metal war mask.

History: Served as a Judge since the order was founded over two centuries ago. Ever since then, Alistair has worked to quell those who would attempt to use magic to work against the Judges.

Skills: Basic sword fighting. Advanced staff fighting. Versed in three languages, and can write them. Well read and has a general understanding of cultural differences.

Equipment/Gear: Short staff, hand carved, black wood. Two concealable daggers. She also carried a small, leather-bound book with her that is locked by some spell that she is to figure out to learn the book's secret.

Personality: Cheerful girl with a bright personality. Smart, quick thinker. More apt to think her way out of a situation than fight. Depends upon her twin for brute strength and protection.
Appearance: Shoulder length brown hair in which she sports four braids; one in front and one behind each ear. Much to her family's dismay, she prefers pants to dresses, and favors greens and black.
History: Born in one of the better parts of the worst part of the city. She and her twin brother, Damond, are all but inseperable. They have the tendency to perform magic without knowing how or why they've done it, a habit they're both working to break and control.

Notes: She's normally called Shay only by her brother or those she really REALLY trusts.

Personality: Damond isn't as outgoing and personable as his twin, but he is loyal and protective. His first and foremost concern is his sister's safety and well-being. If Dash is unable to think them out of a situation, Damond leaps into action with force. Even so, he's a witty, intelligent, and rambunctious young man who enjoys his fun when he can have it.
Appearance: Shaggy dark brown hair, unkempt, but kept cut to his ears. Favors brown and black clothing and is rarely seen without his knives.

Personality: Relaxed and content. Often is very meticulous in the tasks set before him, and mentally, Aiden is very strong, never losing his composure in trial and adversity.

Appearence: Tall and well built. Wears all black armor with a helm.
History: While practically all of his life has been served as a Judge, Aiden is sometimes haunted with dreams of a time when he was the equal to humankind.

Notes: Long ago served as a captain in a special army. Other than that, Aiden doesn’t remember that much about it.

*** Hey team! I'm excited to do this! It's been so long, so if I do anything wrong, please please please let me know! Here's my character description. I'm writing her introduction for the RP now...***

Name: Meara Khoury
Gender: Female
Profession: Sailor/Pirate
Allegience: Few – she has minimal family remaining, only her father survived recent attacks from the Judges, in which she lost her mother, 3 younger sisters, and her 4 brothers. She is loyal to few as the result of her line of work and the tragedies which have befallen her family.

Abilities: Agility, sailing, intuition, stealth.

Skills: Highly competent sailor, comfortable in many different vessels and capable of captaining them. An adept negotiator, she is well versed in politics and trade; quite able to convince or trick others into agreement. Basic fighting/brawling abilities as well as advanced abilities with twin fighting daggers.

Equipment/Gear: A small simple sailboat, her two long, ivory handled fighting daggers, a compass, a crossbow and small supply of bolts, a selection of lock picks, foodstuffs to last for 4 weeks, 3 maps (trade routes, the land, and a detailed street map of Belmont), and a sapphire ring. These are the only belongings she has left, having fled her home upon discovering her murdered family.

Personality: Once a prankster with a great deal of curiosity and zest for life, Meara is now struggling through the loss of her family and the events leading up to their deaths, leaving her silent, bitter, and distant. She is intelligent and dependable, with a sharp tongue and good problem solving skills.

Appearence: Meara is dressed in blue trousers which are tucked into knee high worn black boots. She wears a loose sleeved white tunic, belted at the waist with a black belt upon which her matching ivory handled daggers are sheathed. Over her tunic she wears a forest green, hooded, greatcoat which has been altered to fall only to her calves. The coat belts at the waist and offers many hidden pockets for storage.

History: Maera was born and raised in the once bustling town of Port Raven. Her family was wealthy, having been successful as merchants and owners of a small fleet of trading ships. Accustomed to living well, when Port Raven suffered the attention of the Judges and her father’s business faltered, the family sold all but one of their ships and turned to piracy, targeting ships with goods meant for the city of Belmont. With their previous knowledge of the sea trade ways and the other merchant ships, her family was able to sustain their quality of life and wealth, though not without casualties.
The oldest of her father’s daughters, Meara grew up with her four brothers, learning to sail, fish, hunt, and fight. When illness took the life of her eldest brother, Meara replaced him aboard the family vessel, serving under her father and gaining piracy experience. Eventually, her abilities and skills became so developed that she ran the family’s expeditions herself, allowing her aging father to remain home and become involved in politics. This decision will haunt her forever, because it was due to her father’s switch in activities that the Judges came down upon her family, killing her mother, her three younger sisters, and her 3 remaining older brothers. Her father survived the attack, only to kill himself in his grief afterwards. When Meara returned from her voyage she found a note from her father and her deceased family, left where they were killed for over 2 weeks before she got to them.

Notes: Thus, the story begins for her as she journey’s away from her family home in her personal small sailboat, leaving everything she has ever known in search of answers and revenge as well as closure and safety.

Gender: Male
Profession: Revenge (currently works as a scout for hire and a highwayman when the opportunity arises)
Allegience: Anti-judges

Abilities: Strong and quick physically, sharp witted. Latent magic
Skills: Tracker, outdoors skills, archery, knife throwing, spear and staff fighting, axe fighting. Budding magical abilities concentrating on elemental and "demonic" magics.
Equipment/Gear: Prefers to use his battle axe for melee combat. Also carries a recurve bow, several knives, poisons, and a staff. He wears light studded armor, but does have helmet. Also carries a ceremonial obsidian knife unsheathed at his side. Always carries flint, some sort of kindling, and extra rope.
Note: Plyg has a symbiotic relationship with some power he encountered while serving as a Justiciar.

Personality: Grim, sarcastic, and pragmatic. Though kind to those who have accepted him, he is merciless to his enemies and apathetic to strangers.

Appearence: Tall and wiry, Plyg usually sports blood red facial hair, while keeping his own hair braided. His eyes are a fiery yellow color, and his pupils often become oblong. He is heavily tattooed with tribal swirls that are supposedly endowed with some form of shamanistic magic.

History:Plyg's childhood ended when his family was slaughtered at the order of the Judges. Orphanened for reasons he didn't know, Plyg learned to scrap out an existance amoung the scum and outlaws of cities. He was always a good fighter and had keen senses, so it wasn't a suprise when he was drafted into the Justiciars order. He personally hoped it would satisfy his battle lust, but instead it only fueled his hatred towards the Judges. He absorbed their martial teachings and learned to be a scout/tracker, but he abondonded his post and joined a nomadic tribe randomly. Plyg briefly found a sort of peace there, serving as a hunter, warrior, and apprentice shaman. He took a wife for a short time before the tribe was attacked by a Judge and group of Justicar's while he was away. Blaming his absence for his new family's deaths, Plyg swore a dire oath of revenge, but he is biding his time. Currently he is living as an outlaw, robbing from the merchants that feed the Judges city, and slaughtering anyone who resists him.
Note: His latent magic ability began to develop after he joined the justiciar order, and he did everything he could to disguise it. Amoung the shamen's he learned a bit about his powers and how to channel them.

Having revenge as a profession -sounds- a little silly, but I have no issues with it. :p

We're starting to build a nice core group with this one. I'll introduce my good-guy character soon.

Ah, just a note to everyone about technologyin the setting, since we really haven't explained it to much:

Technology has advanced to be fairly equivalent to the early industrial age. There are steam engines, trains, and all such as that. Railroad tracks run between cities, and it is reasonable to assume, that canals have been dug out for water transport as well.

One thing I need to double check. Hey JD whats the word on guns? I know we went Steampunk for the setting, but I don't think we actually discussed fire-arms.

Abilities: Nevin is highly trained along with self taught in strange sorts of magic, the usual ones that he practices are the arts of illusion(of the senses and the mind), and divination. He also performs rituals evoking other planes of existence and communing with beings in other existences, he is highly learned in knowledge from other planes.

Skills:He is skilled with his hooked chains and uses his magic to aid him in any fight, able to muddle the minds of most he is rarely called into direct confrontation.




Personality:
He used to be loyal to causes, but his loyalty has shifted so that now he is only loyal to himself and his own interests. Though his magnetic personality and wit usually draw others to him, and keep him from any suspect from his peers. His servants directly under him are a group of spy's that are insanely loyal to his causes, his recruitment involves him looking at the fate of humans unravel, and then save them right before their time should of been up. The favor he asks for saving their life is simply their loyalty and "friendship". This doesn't usually take place as straight forward as it sounds here though since he prefers illusions and trickery to make people comfortable with whoever he pretends to be at the time. He is extremely cunning yet still favors chaos and taking chances over order, that might also be because luck usually has a way of favoring him as well. With all this having said, he gets along unusually well with most of the judges because he isn't afraid to get in the middle of things, and challenge others if necessary.

Appearance:
Nevin stands tall and imposes as much with his stature as his appearance. He is draped in leather straps and black durable clothing with a hooded black clock covering most of his form. Chains fall down his arms, wrapping many times around his wrists, the chains end in sharp curved hooks. Lastly when you look into the shadowed crook of his face that his hood reveals you see a gleaming mask in a Japanese oni style that covers the bottom half of his face, it reflects light in the room and lets a metallic smile be the last thing that many have seen.

(For those of you with a media dependent imagination I'm thinking a silver looking sort of ninja from mortal combat like sub zero, mixed with a grim reaper looking style, mixed with chains wrapped around both arms, oh yeah might want to put a bit of shredder in there, he looks bad ass, I'll try to draw him soon to show what I intend clearer).

Nice, welcome aboard Kelyme, been a while since we RPed. You too, Andromeda, this looks like its shaping up nicely.

Alright guys, to get this out of the way, all Judges share certain abilities and attributes.

Enhanced Endurence - Judges are hard to wound, even harder to kill

Enhanced Strength - Judges are stronger than average as a rule

Healing Ability - Even if wounded, Judges heal at an accelerated rate. On average, at least 4x faster than a human would.

Resistant to Poisons - Judges -can- be harmed by poison, but any effect they have will not be nearly as severe as a human would suffer

Ageless - When the Judges became Judges they either ceased to age, or age very slowly. (Wikk, input?)

Magical Aptitude - Judges who seek to learn and use magic find it much easier than a normal human.

Ok, these abilities may seem like a bit much at first, but thats kinda the point.

List may be edited, might wanna keep an eye on it...

Abilities: Alchemist. Tristan is well known for his abilities to fashion medicines. Also he can fashion poisons as well.

Equipment/Gear: Dark grey tunic with brown hooded robe. A shortsword, bow and quiver.

Personality: While taciturn most of the times, Tristan does however speak his thoughts, but only when he knows that the other is prepared to listen and take action. Tristan is a serious person, always concerned more with the safety of those he loves, rather himself.

Appearence: Rather tall with a fit body frame. Tristan wears his long brown hair partially back, with one single strand braid falling over his ears.

History: Tristan originally came from a foreign land across the sea’. Fayrevn was the continent’s name, and during his time spent there -up until his teenage years- Tristan learned the arts of hunting and scouting. When in his late teen’s his father was accused of murder and the family was forced to flee. While they knew if they could make it to the southern coast that they could catch a ride south to freedom, getting there would be the hardest part. Only Tristan made it, and since has served for fifteen years under the headman Varu of Hawthorn.

Phiknight ~ our characters do seem to have common goals and histories, how fun! Except yours is a bit more advanced in his training and more involved in his goals than my girl. I did have a question for you though, you list your character's name as Faedom, but then call him Plyg throughout the rest of the description. Why the different names? Typo/last minute name change?

Question about magic. Is there any sort of magic commonly used that the judges ignore? In my post I mentioned magicians associated with running the train, but thinking back on it I don't know if any would have been there. Basically, is the technology magic independent, or does it have fantastic elements? Did that question make any sense. Sorry.

Marius Waltzen

Gender: Male
Profession: Clockwork Artificer
Allegience: Himself

Abilities: Artificy/Enchantment and Cryomancy (Ice Magic).
Skills: Knowledgable about Machines, how they work, and how to repair them. Can build/use magical and mundane machinery. Can fight, if needed, but is not very skilled.

Equipment/Gear: Stolen Spellbook, Toolkit, Hooded Purple Robe with many pockets hidden inside. Sturdy boots and gloves. A small Silver Staff and a Silver Dagger. A large backpack. A pocket watch. Frostglobes (frostglobes are small enchanted clockwork devices that spew frost and cold when thrown. They are not powerful, and are best used as distractions). Spectacles.

Clockwork Creatures; Marius keeps three Clockwork Creatures in his backpack with his spellbook. In order to use them, Marius must take them out, wind them properly, and instill magic into them. This process takes at least ten minutes for each Clockwork Creature. After winding and charging, each clockwork creature can run for 1 day.

Amzural - A 1 foot long clockwork cat. Bestowed with sentience and the ability to speak Amzural assists Marius by scouting. Amzural is a friendly and playful personality, rather like that of a small kiiten.

Taer - A 2 foot long clockwork fox. Bestowed with sentience and the ability to speak and to cast minor Cryomancy spells. Taer has a more independant personality and only helps if he feels like it. Fortunately he seems to like Marius.

Vanders - A 1 1/2 foot tall clockwork falcon. It is not sentient, but follows commands. Used mostly for transporting messages.


Personality: Marius is a genuinely light hearted person with a strong streak of curiousity. He loves to take machines aprt to see how they work, and loves to build his own gadgets. Although he is self centered, he hates to see others in pain and will try to help those in need.

Appearence: Marius wears a long Purple Robe, though he almost never has his hood up. Beneath he wears white pants. Over his shoulders a backpack is slung perpetually. His hair is shock red, and he keeps it in a long braid. He wears a set of small square spectacles.

History: Born to a family of influential clock-makers in Belmont, Marius had always displayed an uncanny ability with machines, even more so than his family. When he reached 10 years of age, he was taken from his family and raised to be an adept to maintain the Clockwork Golems that always defended the Judge's stronghold. After training, he was selected by Alistair for further training. Under Alistair's eye he mastered the basic arts of Artificy, until Alistair cut him off from further knowledge. Marius served for 5 years maintaining Alistair's personal Golems.

One year ago Alistair had returned to deposit an ancient book in his library, on the subjects of Cryomancy and Artificy. For one week Marius pretended to recharge the Golems that guarded the library until they became inactive. He then snuck in, and took the book. Quickly gathering his things, he left Alistair's tower and made his way south. For One year he has been learning what he can from the book, and evading the Judges as best he can. Marius may yet curse his curiousity, but for now he is learning new secrets every day, and loving every minute of it.
