Shared Setting Project Empty
PostSubject: Shared Setting Project   Shared Setting Project EmptyFri Jun 06, 2008 5:56 pm

Ok, Heres how it works, everyone who joins chooses an area of land that is not claimed, based on the map below. After you claim an area, you design your nation, I've provided a template to help. Its not a new concept, but building a campiagn setting together is actually a lot of fun. Very Happy

Its going to be a while before this actually gets off the ground, but all are welcome to join in. The RP itself will be standard fantasy, you are not required to play a character that hails from your nation, but I have a feeling, thats how it will mostly work out. :p

Anyone interested PM me, or post in here. Questions are welcome.

Shared Setting Project NationColorMap2

And heres the Template to fill out.

Shared Setting Project Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shared Setting Project   Shared Setting Project EmptyFri Jun 06, 2008 6:24 pm

Alright, my nation.

Kaghast

Shared Setting Project Share-Kaghast-1

General

Government: Magocracy (Rule by Mages)
Leaders: The Family Bloodwater, lead by Kain Erazamus Bloodwater II. The Family Bloodwater, rules with an iron fist. They are all powerful magic users, specialising in the arts of Necromancy.

Champion: Armant, the Created

Capital City: Kaghastor; A walled city that lies just North of the Bloodwater's Obsidian Tower. Kaghastor is built mostly with black rock. It is a city oif canals and bridges rising above the muck of the swamp below. The Family Bloodwater maintains a second home here, a black palace, from which they actively administrate. Kaghastor is a center for Necromantic studies, housing morgues that are themselves, almost city-sized.

Other Important Cities:

Maskator; A center of trade, Maskator is located on a small strip of grasslands, ceded to Kaghast in ancient times. Its important buildings are mostly marble, in the center, surrounded by wooden and stone structures running out to the city's edge.

Arshelaite; Kaghast's most populated city. It is also somewhat metropolitan. People seeking to escape their old lives, often come to Arshelaite, as they are unlikely to be found or tracked down. Arshelaite is built atop swampland like most other Kaghast cities. It is composed of roads, bridges and walkways built of Obsidian. Unlike Kaghastor, it has no canals, covering the swamps below entirely. Arshelite also houses several mage's colleges, dominated by a large central college of Necromancy.

Paelator; This is actually a small town, significant only because of the quarries than exist nearby, all of the marble and obsidian used in Kaghast comes from here.

Bandonikt; An old ruined fortress, Bandonikt is used primarily to stage defenses near that section of the border, as there are no cities near enough to serve directly.

Military: All those who die in the nation of Kaghast are given over to the Bloodwater family. These become the zombie soldiers and guards that cover the land. In addition, every family gives their oldest child over to the Family to be trained as a lay Necromancer.

Lay Necromancers, form the basis of the Kaghastori military unit. They can command the undead, but are incapable of raising more. Every Lay Necromancer is assigned ten zombies. Most villages have at least one Lay Necromancer. Lay Necromancers who prove skillful or who are capable of learning more, are adopted in the the Family Bloodwater, and trained fully in the arts of Necromancy.

Terrain: Kaghast is a nation covered primarily in swamps and bogs, with the occasional forest cropping up through the muck. The Southern shore is rimmed by sheer cliffs and mountains.

People

Race: Human, denoted by extremely pale skin and typically have dark circles under their eyes.

Culture: Kaghastori are a somber people, who value learning above prosperity. Most are loyal to the Bloodwater family. Kaghastori often tattoo themselves with elaborate stories in their native language Kag'hi.

Economy: Kaghast is blessed with swamps that team with fish and great lizards. Kaghastori leathers are sought the world over. They also trade in herbs, vegetables, and fish. Metals of all sorts are imported. Kaghast has also has a number of quarries in the south west, mostly producing marble and obsidian rock.
Trade Routes:

Skills: The Kaghastori are known for their skill in the darker arts of magic, especially Necromancy. Many are also skilled fishermen and archers. Kaghastori tanners are known for their skill.

Religion: The official religion of Kaghast is that of the Death Cult. The Cult follows a triumverate of death gods. Shalice; who brings peace, Uriel; who brings judgement, and Ansor; who brings pain.

History: Kaghastor was always a simple nation of hunter-gatherers who kept to their own, until the various tribes were united by their common religion, and eventually capitualted to the family Bloodwater who raised the central government and have ruled since then (800 years or so ago).

Languages: Kag'hi is a harsh sounding language that places heavy emphasis on H sounds. The written form of Kag'hi is complex and incorporates a number of mystical symbols.

Common is also widely known.

Shared Setting Project Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shared Setting Project   Shared Setting Project EmptyThu Jun 12, 2008 12:46 am

Nation Name: Temperyn

General

Government: Monarchy, and Republic
Leaders:
Glintscale Tempyst (Sea Elves, Monarchy)
Varrahbrook Glintscale (Sea Elves, Republic)
Oridin Windrace (Humans, Monarchy)

Champion: General Mirhault (Temperyn),

Capital City: Temperyn, Seaspire, Southstorm

Other Important Cities: Sunken City

Military:
[Seaspire] relies mainly on its alliance with Temperyn and Southstorm kingdoms for military to the common eye, but it is well known among the three kingdoms that their own military prowess comes from hiring the services of the pirates of Sunken City as mercenaries, and occassionally hiring other mercenaries.

[Southstorm] has a military force focused on land units, although they do have a moderately powerful navy that they use in concert with their land army for greater effect. Their forces have exceptional seige engines and archers.

[Temperyn] has the geatest military force in all of Temperyn itself. Naval and underwater combat are their strong points, with a vast navy being their strongest defense, and their aqautic infantry being their strongest offence.

[Sunken City] is a military force in itself. The island is made up mostly of pirates and those that are members of such unlwaful things as black markets.

Terrain: Shared Setting Project Share-Temperyn-1

Temperyn is a hot and humid climate. In the north there is a vast plain and a temperate forest with pine and birch trees. Much of the islands are covered in jungle. On one island there is a large marsh due to a collision of rivers and the common heavy rainfall that occurs there.

Seaspire is located under the sea in a deep ravine. The water is warm here as it is a tropical region. Watch out for hurricanes!

Sunken City is a long dead volcanoe that has broken walls where the sea has broken in to create a number of bays. A great crater which has just enough capacity to host the city and a few plantations for the breweries in its very rich soil, is what dominates the center of the island. Whats left of the volcanoes walls reaches very high and is very strong and dense. The people of the city have dug tunnels and caverns into it to make faster passage and more room. There is no vegetation other than the plantation, and the island looks deserted before its bays and interior is inspected.

People

Race:
[Temperyn and Seaspire] Sea Elves
[Southstorm] Humans
[Sunken City] Random. Mainly Sea elves and humans. Pirate City.

Culture:
[Temperyn] The people of Temperyns rule enjoy fine spices, and insence. The favoured colors of the people are silvers, blues, greys, and white. These people have great trust in their rulers and treat them with the highest respect and loyalty. Music is a major part of their culture and is almost on a level with religion here. Musical instruments of all sort, most of them exotic, can be found here. It is common to find a local group of players in markets, on ships, or even in some local shops such as taverns and inns. These people mainly enjoy a powerful moonshine like liquor made in Seaspire and it is considered part of the normal staple diet in this culture. They are very recieving and friendly with their bretheren from Seaspire. Exotic markets are very common here.

[Seaspire] is an aquatic culture, to be found deep within a large canyon on the ocean floor. It has geat towers and cage walls of poisonous coral. The people are often judgemental and cold to outsiders in their city with the exception only of their bretheren on the surface in Temperyn, whom they are warm and recieving towards. The people here love intruige and politics and can spend weeks arguing about unneccessary things, until a serious matter arises which they plan and take action towards with a cautious haste. The people of Seaspire are very religious. Music is a important in the culture, but trading skills are the most highly valued commoddity. These people are expert traders and could rob you blind in a barter without you realizing what happened until the deal is done and shaken upon. Going against a sealed agreement or ones word is deemed here to be very very severe and is enough to lose your reputation in the entire city. Males here preffer wearing dark ocean colors, whilst the females enjoy bright colors such as fuschia, violet, pink, yellow and such. Jewellery harvested from the ocean is commonly sported by the entire populace. Jewellery here marks many different things such as status within the community.

[Southstorm] has a flourishing culture based on trade and agriculture. The people enjoy fineries in their daily dress and wear mainly bright colors. Tobbacco is a major part of this culture and it is considered healthy for the spirit; it is used to seal many formal and informal agreements. The people here are generally very easygoing. They enjoy holding special tournaments yearly for events such as naval duels, chariot racing, shark racing, team and free for all arena skirmishes, and special markets.

[Sunken City] is a rough city where three pirate lords fight for rule. Deciet, treachery, fighting, stealing, and bartering are what mainly runs with city. The culture is quite variable as the city is made up of many races from accross the world. Liquor of all kinds flows freely here. If you are looking for something rare and/or valuable, it can likely be found here, if you can survive the lifestyle and its peoples.

Economy:
[Temperyn] has the largest city in the nation. It is the focal trade point and generates great wealth off of its markets. Tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, fish, ivory, jewellery, pottery, and exotic items (including exotic weaponry) are its main productions.

[Seaspire] Basically holds the most power in naval trade and therefore has greatest power over the local markets. Its trade is what generates its main income, but also the deep sea miners bring in raw minerals to trade on the surface. Aquatic plantations and such create goods for local and export such as seaweed crops, local marine life (Fish, lobsters, shells, corals etc.), and anythink sunk into the watery depths is always harvested and sold or kept.

[Southstorm] thrives off of what it produces. Vegetables from the mainland, tobbacco, spices, metals/ores, tools, stone, masonry, weaponry, wood, crystals, siege engines, pottery, and silk are its main productions.

[Sunken City] Thrives off of its trades, black markets, shore raids, breweries, mercenary jobs, and foremost its pirating.

Trade Routes: (Leave this blank for now)

Skills:
[Temperyn] Military (Mainly Naval), Agricultural harvesting, Jewellers, Potters, Ivory working, Weapon and armor smiths (exotic), music, cooking, intruige and politics.

[Seaspire] Bartering and trade, schools (trading/bartering/seafaring/marine economics/politics and intruige), Sailing, Item and political lore, crafting, aquatic harvesting, Marine animal training, aquatic mining, coral working.

[Southstorm] Military, Weapon and armor smithing, Toolmakers, Mining, Ore and mineral smelting, Pottery, Silk harvesting and weaving, Engineering, Wood carving, Carpentry, Woodcutting, Masonry, Tobbacco and spice harvesting.

Shared Setting Project Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shared Setting Project   Shared Setting Project EmptyMon Jun 16, 2008 1:27 pm

Nation Name: Myagikstan

General: Myagiskstan thrives off of trading its developed and unique goods. With its large, but varied population, Myagiskstan tolerates most peoples within its boundaries. However, a chasm has developed in recent years as new magicks and technologies have began to encroach upon fairy strongholds, which would prefer to stay free and wild. The fairy faction is sometimes supported by druidic followers and others who might oppose the crown.

Government: Myagiskstan is ruled by the family Reignheart (monarchy). This family long ago mastered the arcane arts of alchemy and artificy, combining magic with technology. Family is a loose term, as many promising acolytes are adopted into the family in help it maintain its supremacy. They usually rule the kingdom loosely, allowing the guilds and nobles struggle for control over the individual cities, but they ruthlessly will interfere if they deem their interests are being thwarted. Reignheart is served by several courts of advisors, particularly from the military.

Leaders: Currently, Richard Reignheart is the crowned king of the realm. Richard is enamored with all things gadgety, himself being an accomplished mage and tinkerer. However, his child like obsession masks his calculating tenacity and growing ambitions.

Champion:
Capital City:
Techinetia sits in the middle of Myagisktan's largest lake. The city has been called the City of glass, but crystals actually serve as the primary construction element. A few generations previous, a ruler mandated that no wall visible from the exterior could be made from anything except crystal. The city has since expanded to the shore surrounding the lake, where other construction techniques are allowed. As the seat of power the central city is mainly populated by factions seeking the King's favor. Technietia also houses the main training facility for officers for the military.
Other Important Cities:
Seaview: The largest port of the land and center of commerce, Seaview is everything Techinetia isn't. It is poorly planned, dirty, and generally a place to have a good time.
Treymore: The seat of magic in the land, Treymore is home to the Arcane University. Due to ancient agreements and spells, the Univeristy does not have to directly support the crown, and is home to free speech in the kingdom. Because of this, the ruling family often tries to undermine them by buying promising students loyalty. Treymore is an ancient city, rumored to be haunted by powerful spirits.
Cloudhaven: Industrial city, center of mining, and home of the astrology, Cloudhaven is carved directly out of the mountains, and its lower levels are buried deep in the hearts of those mountains.

Military: The military is divided up traditionally. They make use of many technologies blended with magic, but the corp of the military is the dragonbrigade. The dragonbrigade is fiercely loyal to Reignheart, and is composed of skilled soldiers and intelligent dragons..

Terrain:Varied. The mountains are high and treacherous, but most of the country is a mixture of rolling hills, forests, farmlands, and what not.

People: Varied. The indeginous people weren't humanoid. They aren't very happy either.

Race:The standard mix of elves, humans, and dwarfs. Intermarrying is common. Fairy creatures abound as well.

Culture:

Economy:
Trade Routes: (Leave this blank for now)

Skills:

Religion:

History:

Languages:

This is a work in progress and may alter drastically in the future. Thanks!
