---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MARKINGS AND RANK INDICATION:
PACK ID MARKINGS: TSRC wolves are identified by a long, vertical scar on their right fore-shoulder.

RANK INDICATION: Indicated by a trinket wrapped around the neck by a thin piece of leathered hide...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rank Descriptions and indication (taken directly from TBMP stats, with some modification. If you want to have a total different description, feel free to pm me the parts or make self the adjustments)

Alphas - The top dogs, always a mated pair. Their word is law, this rank is really self explanatory. When submitting a profile, this is not an automatic rank. Your character must be chosen by the current Alpha (if there is only one) to gain this rank.
Indication: Bear claw

Betas - Second in command, up to two..one for each Alpha. Unlike before, now does not have to be a mated pair. They are in charge when both Alphas are not around and usually are the ones that lead and direct group hunts. This is not an automatic rank. Your character must be chosen by the Alpha/s to gain this rank.
Indication: Cougar tooth/teeth

Delta - Only one of these is allowed. This wolf is something like a police-wolf in the pack, keeping the peace among the pack wolves and ensuring that the are actively participating in the pack as well as is something akin to a 'war general'...this meaning that the Delta is the wolf that trains the pack members to fight and advises the Alpha/s when there is war. This is not an automatic rank. Your character must be chosen by the current Alpha/s to gain this rank.
Indication: Wolverine or Badger Claw

Scout - Patrolling borders and ready for anything. Hunters and warriors of the pack.
Indication: small rodent skull

Fliers - Fastest of the pack. Patrolling borders and ready for anything.
Indication:

Spiritual - (The Light Valley Pack Only) - Only one of these is allowed...as they are supposed to be rare anyways. A Spiritual is a wolf with the gifted ability to contact and interact with the Spirits. The job and life of the Spiritual can become very complicated. To have a Spiritual character you must contact Meoquanee (or Firestorm, if Meoquanee is absent) and link her to your character and be questioned and for the duties and abilities of the Spiritual wolf to be further explained. Only responsible players will be allowed to have an acting Spiritual.
Indication:

Healer - Up to four healers are allowed within the pack, not counting their apprentices. The Healer rank is self-explanatory. These wolves use plants to help treat ailments as well as make a dying wolf's last moments more comfortable as much as possible and assisting in births if need be. A wolf can have the skill and knowledge to heal without holding the Healer's rank, meaning a common pack member can have the skill but perhaps the Healer rank is full...but if a position opens up with the promotion from the Alpha/s then that wolf can move into that rank position. If there is an open position, the wolf simply need to approach an Alpha and ask for the position. The Alpha/s will have the other Healers judge the wolf's ability before either promoting the wolf or declining the request. This is not an automatic rank.
Indication: Dove Feather

Legend - There can be up to two Legends in the pack along with their apprentices. A Legend is a wolf with all of the knowledge of the history of the pack and all of the stories, both true and mythical, that the pack has ever known. To become a Legend a wolf must study extremely hard and memorize all of the knowledge presented to them by their teacher. This is not an automatic rank. Your character must be actively taught by a current Legend and tested before gaining this rank.
Indication:

Elders - There is no set limit to this rank. These wolves have retired from their previous rank and can enjoy the remainder of their life of lazing about the pack's Camp area if they so desire. Retired Elders are to be respected by other members of the pack, even the Alphas show some lenience towards them. This can be an automatic rank.
Indication: Elder wears the strip but no trinket, showing that their years of service to the pack are done.

pack ally:
Indication: None (Is not an official member of the pack)

Pack Members - There is no set limit to this rank. The Pack Members should make up the bulk of the pack. Pack Members hunt and fight for the pack in general, as well as scout the territory either alone or in a small group. Pack Members may hunt for themselves, but it is strongly preferred that the wolves hunt for the pack as a whole. This can be an automatic rank.
Indication:

Puppysitters - Watchful eyes and carers of the young.
Indication: deer hoof

Pups - The childrens! This is an automatic rank.
Indication: None
Apprentice: bears none until he/she gains it themself.

Omegas - The lowest rank in the pack. These wolves are usually either being punished temporarily or permanently. These wolves have screwed up enough to be demoted to this demeaning rank. They eat last and are not allowed to leave the Camp without an escort, thus the job of puppysitting tends to fall to them. Despite being an Omega, it is not permissible to abuse these wolves! This can be an automatic rank.
Indication: None

A rank that is marked as Closed means that you cannot simply choose to have your character in that rank. To achieve a Closed rank, your character must earn it through rp and be promoted by the Alpha/s. A rank that is Open is a rank that you can just choose to place your character in.

The Swift River Clan Stats Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Swift River Clan Stats   The Swift River Clan Stats EmptyFri Dec 30, 2011 8:49 am

Laws - The Swift River Clan
1. The Alpha(s) word is law. It is to be obeyed without question.
2. Respect is paramount. All lower ranking members must respect those of higher ranks, but the highest ranks must also treat the lower ranks with a measure of respect.
3. The pack's welfare before one's own. This covers many bases, from hunting to patrolling to war.
4. Loyalty to the pack must come before loyalty to any one member.
5. Those sent out on hunting patrols must return with prey before they themselves will be allowed to eat. Anyone breaking this law will be severely reprimanded by the alphas.
6. Pups and Elders are the first allowed to eat, followed by the alphas, betas, tellers, scouts, apprentices, and omegas. The one exception to this rule applies to those female wolves that are nursing pups, as they will generally need more nourishment than others.
7. TSRC wolves should never kill another wolf in combat, if it can be avoided. TSRC fights only to establish dominence and prove its strength.
8. Intentionally spilling the blood of a packmate will lead to immediate banishment. However, spilling the blood of a medicine wolf will result in immediate death, sentence to be carried out by the alphas.

----------------------------

Code of Honor - The Swift River Clan

TSRC wolves do not hold to any religion per se, but rather to a code of honor based upon the laws and traditions of their anscestors. Swift River Clan wolves are taught to respect all life, even that of creatures considered their prey, as it is generally understood that both predator and prey rely upon each other for their continued existance. When a TSRC wolf dies, it is believed that their life essence returns to the forest in order to strengthen the clan and forest as a whole.
1. All TSRC wolves should strive to exhibit these virtues in their lives: Integrity, Courage, Sacrifice, selflessness, loyalty, honesty, and trust. From these will inevitably spring other virtues such as wisdom and valor. It is an honorable wolf that can live their life by this code.
2. When pups reach suitable age, around six months, it is usually deemed by the Alphas that the pup is old enough to leave its parents. The pup is then told to spend a night alone in the forest, where it is believed the forest itself will speak to them and tell them what their position within the pack will be. From this point on, they are apprenticed to the senior packmember within this position. If that member already has an apprentice, the next in that position will take the pup as their apprentice.
3. Pups do not receive names until they are apprenticed to an elder wolf. It is at that time the mentor will choose a young apprentice's name.
4. When a pup reaches adulthood, it is not considered a full member until it receives its true name. In order to receive their true name, young wolves must travel out into the forest on their own to perform an act of worth. This usually includes the gaining of the trinket which they wear around their neck. If the apprentice returns with the appropriate trinket, the healer then marks the right foreshoulder and the true name is awarded by the alphas. If not, the apprentice must remain so until the season rolls around again. It is believed that in this way, the forest itself will judge whether an apprentice is worthy to become a full-fledged member of the pack. After the true name is received, the wolf will then sit vigil for one night, reflecting upon the meaning of their name.
5. Because they must fully devote themselves to the pack and to its traditions, medicine wolves and their apprentices are not allowed to take mates of their own or have pups of their own.
6. Although the loyalty of the medicine wolf must always be to his/her pack first and foremost, it is believed that they have a higher calling that puts them above pack rivalries. They are therefore exempt from participation in any battle or war.
7. Elders are the most respected members of the pack. Though their bodies are old, their wisdom still makes them an invaluable part of the pack. It is therefore the responsibility of the scouts, apprentices, and omegas to take utmost care of them.
8. Alpha ascension may be carried out in two different ways. The first is standard bloodline assension. At its birth, one pup of the Alpha bloodline will be chosen to lead the pack when it is grown. Such pups do not go through standard apprenticeship, but rather are trained specifically to take over the pack when the life essence of the alpha has returned to the forest. The second is hierarchial ascension, meaning that an alpha may elect to have the beta/s take over command of the pack in the event that he/she either has no pups of their own, or do not feel their pups are ready yet. If the second is the case, the training of the pup will be left to the betas, once the alpha is gone.
9. After banishment, an ex-TSRC wolf's name is never again to be uttered allowed, as that wolf is believed to be dishonored and a disgrace to the code itself. These are known as madclaws and should be driven off or killed if they are found on the territory.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laws from The Light Valley Pack

- The pack comes before the wolf

-Pups, nursing or pregnant females, and elders are the first allowed to eat, followed by the alphas, betas, tellers, scouts, apprentices, and omegas

-Physical fighting is reprimanded, and in battle killing is avoided, though severly injuring is not, as long as it is needed

-The Dreaming process is not to be done whenever the wolf feels like it, the time must be chosen by the wolfs mentor, as a wolf must be apprentinced once they are a few months old

----------------------------

Beliefs from The Light Valley Pack

Spirits

First Wolf/Great Mother
A ghostly grey she-wolf who changes color acording to the season or upcoming events.

Changer of Seasons
A rabbit turns the seasons, apearing with a brown coat in summer and spring, and white in autumn and winter.

Spirit of Life
A pure grey wolf with a black spiral on his forhead.

Wisdom
An owl, silver feathered and blue eyed.

Spirit of Death
A large dark coyote acompanied by a red eyed raven.
It is said, that the raven flies ahead, warning of the coyotes approach... For those who do not run to hide and are seen by him, wil drop dead on the spot. The raven is said to also sometimes scout for the souls of evil, cawing and following them till the coyote finds them.

The Leaders of all the animals appear with the same colors to all animals, and are all light brown. They usually don't go by names, simply Head Wolf or such (Though more polietly, if prehaps a wolf doesn't want to join their ancestors soon, they would be wise to call the spirit by their statue in life, Alpha for wolves, Lead Stag for Deer and so forth...)
The Light Valley Pack belives that in the afterlife, ancestors send dreams to Spirit Guides and other wolves if needed, but thats rare. Spirits of the forest itself are also belived in, as in spirits of the forest as a whole which is as powerful as a god.

GOOD OMENS
-a wolf born mostly gray with some brown, red, white, and black at the turn of summer to fall or winter to spring
-a rainbow
-a shooting star
-a rainbow
-the sight of a spirit(a good one)
-a wolf born pure white (or gray)
-if two animals are seen fighting and the lighter one wins

BAD OMENS
-a black wolf born in the middle of any season (not taken too harshly, for the sake of the young wolf. They are given a chance to prove themselves, not simply taken as evil)
-a pure black raven or crow
-if two animals are seen fighting and the darker colored one wins

OMENS OF CHANGE
-the sight of a black and white version of any species together
-a sudden storm
-a blizzard

-------------------------------------------------

Ranks/Feathers, and IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To symbolize the rank of each member, a vine with a feather attached is wrapped tightly around the left wrist of the wolf. (Tightly enough that only the alpha has a rock sharp enough to cut it for a larger one as the wolf grows.) A dove, or any white bird is used for the peaceful members (Spirit Guides, Healers) that don't fight. Pregnant wolves and recent mothers wear a white feather as well, as well as injured wolves.

#Alpha - Peregrine Falcon
! Beta - Red Tailed Hawk
! Delta - Bald Eagle
! Soldiers - Gray Owl
* Hunters - Barn Owl
# Healers - Cardinal
# Spirit Guides - Dove
# Legend - Blue Jay
Apprentices - (rank-to-be plus...) Raven
* Scouts - Golden Eagle
* Puppysitters - Quail
* Puppies - Chickedee (yup, they are up north, soooo ya.Chickedee. When they move to near TBMP/TSRC this changes to sparrow )
* Omega - Turkey Vulture

Meanings
* next to them are available immediately, or can have an apprentice.
# next to them means they must go though an apprentinceship in order to get the position, or a permanent appretice can be here. Only the Alpha (and apprentice) doesn't have one of these, but another one/apprentice of the rank can be appointed.
! means that only the alpha can assign another or an apprentice, not any of the rank.

Just a note of something I had noticed in the pack ranks:

Silver River is a member of Black Mountain Pack. Because of the peace between the packs and the fact that Crystal Stream is her sister she just visits often. So she should not really be listed here.

Ahh... ...chips..... You are right Zeroki. She is listed in TBMP field on the big list with the mates and hings + players. Should have looked in that.

https://thewhiteridgesaga.forumotion.com/t470-new-time-line-characters-their-rank-age-mate-and-player (no longer up to date also)

Even I saw name in the post in this secion.. Even the packs truce, it seems like every member can cross the border to the other pack for a visit.

I wonder if it is still possible and not too late to get a decent list for all the packs and wolves.. Came across a few wolfs from Fauna in her old profile char list with some names that belong to the light valley pack. but not being sure if those are still alive and kicking.

EDIT: Wolves with no color in their name... gender unsure, not found.

Well in the case of the gender issue:

OceanStream is a Male
Storm/Blizzard are twins and Male (still not sure if they will be played or not; Nocturne never got back to me on that)

One other thing, as well. Swift River does not have a Spiritual rank as they don't believe in the First Wolf religion.

Did they ever had one in the past? As i came well across that on website Nocturne made for all the packs.

ooppss... Embarassed you are right... But the Light Valley pack does. wonder if i can let it stand there then for them only, unless the pack stopped with the use of Spiritual?

Oh is there still a need of a "Pack Ally: Untouchable." for the swift rivers?

I plan on introducing a new pack ally for Swift River so long as it's fine with Firestorm. But pack ally would still be considered untouchable.
