Vista Service Pack 2 Empty
PostSubject: Vista Service Pack 2   Vista Service Pack 2 EmptyThu May 28, 2009 11:29 am

Vista Service Pack 2 is here!

Vista Service Pack 2 Sp2

You heard me right. For those of you out there with Vista, the second service pack is now available for download from Microsoft. This service pack will provide all of the MS updates since Service pack 1 plus quite a few new enhancements to (hopefully) make your Windows Vista experience better. Some of these enhancements include:

* An upgrade to the Bluetooth protocol, bringing it to bluetooth 2.1.
* The ability to burn Blu Ray disks without a separate program (Blu Ray compatible burner is required).
* An upgrade to the Vista side bar to make it more responsive.
* Improved WIFI reliability after coming out of sleep mode.

On top of these enhancements, Microsoft says that Vista SP2 has addressed over 700 previous Vista bugs that should increase performance by up to 10%.

The Vista SP2 file is big! If you have a dial-up connection, I would recommend doing this download overnight. The file size is 348.3MB. On top of that, if you want to install Service Pack 2, you must already have Service Pack 1 installed.

As I mentioned above, the service pack is available for download from the Microsoft web site. This update will be made available via automatic updates in the next few weeks. If you want to get ahead of the game and install it now, the links are available below.

Enjoy!

Software that gives problems with Vista SP2

Installing of Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista, can give problems to a couple of softwareproducts.

Microsoft warns that eleven (11) programs, among which are a couple of security packages, no longer working optimal.

- So can by Trend Micro Internet security 2008, the firewall doesn't want to start anymore.
- From the same maker, can Antivirus and AntiSpyware 2008 work badly with SP2.
Trend Micro advises to install an upgrade. The same applies for Spyware Doctor 5.5.0x from PC Tools.
- By the use of Avira AntiVir 8 personal, gives Windows a warning that the antivirussoftware is not active, but that is untrue.

SP2 blocks also a couple of programs, such as Spy-sweeper 5.3.1.2344 from WebRoot.
among others Arcsoft Totalmedia 2.1.6.126 en Vista OS X (Windows Vista with the looks of MAC OS X9) won't start up after the installation of SP2.

-------

If a program or antivirus package doesn't work any more or for the half of it. Check the makers site of it, and see if there is a patch available for it.
